Questions, answered
Why does Sniff exist?
Life with our rescue beagle involves walks, quiet time and activities to help him settle. Some days we offer a few things; on others, the routine carries on into the evening. Our behaviourist asked us to keep a record, so I made Sniff to help us see what we were doing and when. More about why I made it.
Is it free? Will you ever charge?
Yes. Everything Sniff does today stays free, with no ads or subscription.
Do I need an account?
No. Open Sniff, choose your dog's activities and start recording.
Where does my data go?
Your activity stays on your device. No account needed. Save a backup now and then so you can restore your logs if you change phones. If you turn on weather, your approximate location is sent to the weather service to get your local weather.
How does the weather work?
It's optional. Turn it on in Settings and allow location access. Sniff uses an approximate location, rounded to an area of about 10 km, to get your local weather.
Is this instead of a behaviourist?
No. Sniff records what happened. It doesn't diagnose or advise. Your logs are a useful thing to show the person you work with. How it works covers what Sniff can and can't tell you.
Which phones does it work on?
Sniff is coming to Android. For now, you can try it in a desktop or laptop browser. Join the mailing list on the Try the app page to hear when it's available on Google Play.
What if I change phones?
Go to Settings and choose Save a backup. Keep the file somewhere safe, then choose Restore a backup in Sniff on your new phone.
Can I suggest something?
Please do. Visit the Feedback page and tell me what's working, what's confusing or what would make Sniff more useful.
